Board of Directors
A father of two Navigator students, JP was originally elected to the board as Gilroy Prep School Parent Representative in 2016. He works for KeyPoint Credit Union as a Real Estate Mortgage Underwriter. He is an active member of the GPS Parent Club, serving as the parent/teacher liaison. He is committed to providing opportunities for parents at all school sites to have a voice in governance.
Board Secretary
Ian is on the investment team at Charter School Growth Fund and leads investments in innovative schools. Prior to joining CSGF he was an associate for Techstars and Kapor Capital. At Kapor Capital he focused on the education sector and provided strategic support for a competency-based education startup, UniversityNow. Ian also cofounded a California software company, supplying state and local workforce development programs with real-time reporting and analytics. Outside of work Ian is a founding board member of Moonshot edVentures, a nonprofit working to surface and support a diverse pipeline of leaders to design and launch the learning environments of tomorrow. Ian has a BA in economics from the University of California, Irvine, and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Chuck recently termed out as Board Chair of KIPP Bay Area Public Schools. A network of public charter schools, KIPP is dedicated to providing students with a world-class education, enabling them to live a choice-filled life with dignity irrespective of their zip code. During his seventeen years on the board, KIPP grew from one school in West Oakland to fifteen schools across four counties.
Chuck continues to serve as a member of KIPP’s Finance and Real Estate Committees. He also serves on the Board of Trustees for the University of Maryland, the Investment Committee for the Charter School Growth Fund, and as an Independent Trustee for Aspiration.Com’s mutual fund group. Most recently he joined the board of First Place for Youth.
Chuck retired as Executive VP and Managing Director of Wells Fargo’s Wealth Management Group where he oversaw the regional management of Private Banking, Investment Management and Trust, and national Full Service Brokerage. Chuck is a forty-year financial services veteran who, prior to joining Wells Fargo, was a Partner at Bear Stearns & Company, Chairman and CEO of Sutro & Company, and a Regional Director of Blyth, Eastman, Dillon.
Chuck graduated with honors from the University of Maryland with a degree in Economics. He currently resides in the Bay Area with his wife of fifty-three years, his two children, and two grandchildren.
Board Chair
John has lived in both California and Washington, D.C. He was recently a Distinguished Service Professor and Director of Heinz College (Carnegie Mellon University). John was Chief of Staff of the U.S. Department of Transportation. He was was also Chief of Staff to two California members of Congress, Representative Anna Eshoo and Representative Norman Y. Mineta. He is a Senior Fellow of the Silicon Valley American Leadership Forum, and he serves on the Board of Directors of the Edge Foundation, an organization assisting students with ADHD and executive functioning issues. John lives outside of Gilroy with his wife, Michelle.
Shara is the Chief Schools Officer of Alpha Public Schools, an organization consisting of four public charter schools in East San Jose, California. She was also Founder and Executive Director of Cornerstone Academy Preparatory School. Shara is a graduate of Brown University, Stanford University, Reach Institute for School Leadership, and the Harvard Institute for Superintendents and School Leaders.
Parent Representative
Alfred is a reserve Environmental Compliance Review Specialist under the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Environmental and Historic Preservation Cadre. He is experienced in disaster support and recovery, working hand-in-hand with local, state, non-governmental, and federal agencies to guide disaster survivors through the relief process. Alfred was educated internationally, and he contributes a valuable mix of local and global perspectives to board service.
Board Treasurer
Victor is Senior Principal Outbound Product Manager at ServiceNow. He has close to nine years of dedicated experience in software license compliance, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and royalty audits, enterprise software sales negotiations, and software asset management (SAM) services. All of Victor’s experiences involve significant software industry knowledge and project management oversight, having worked with several major publishers across various engagement projects in the United States, Asia, and Latin America.
Jaime is the President of RQS Concrete Inc., based in Hayward, providing concrete construction services to the local community and Bay area. He is an alumnus of Hayward Unified School District where he attended Mt. Eden High School. After secondary school, Mr. Quiroga earned an Associate Degree from Chabot Junior College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture at UC Berkeley. Always a team player, Jaime played baseball at his two educational institutions, and he has extensive experience building partnerships during construction projects throughout the Bay area and North Central Coast region. Growing up in the Hayward community with many friends and family, Jaime is passionate about helping to provide a quality education for all children served by Navigator Schools.
